Castellar Guidobono is an agricultural-industrial centre situated among the farthest hilly layers and the left bank of the Curone torrent, in a prevalently level ground.
The name of the village was recorded for the first time on 5th November 979 on a diploma in which the Emperor Ottone II assigned jurisdiction over the territories surrounding the castle of the Squarzoni family, feudal Lords of the present Castellar Guidobono, to the bishop of Tortona. Then the village was given to the noble Guidobono family.
Castellar Guidobono has been destroyed and rebuilt several times over the centuries.
The fertile land and the favourable geographical position determined the growth of the township.

Worth a visit:
- Villa Montebruno; built in the 19th century by the count Giobatta Montebruno, it is located along the provincial road of the Curone valley.
- the church of San Tommaso, whose existence was testified already before 1354. In 1968 it was enriched with decorations by the painter Romolo Cerutti from Tortona.
- the little chapel of Madonna del Caravaggio situated close to the farmstead of San Luigi.
