Agricultural centre situated on the hills stretching between ‘rio Cornigliasca’ and ‘rio Castellania’, surrounded by extensive vineyards. Paderna is located in the first buttresses of the Ligurian lower Apennine.
The town foundation is attributed to farmerss from Tortona before the year one Thousand. The name ‘Paderna’ comes from ‘paterna’, word with two different meanings: ‘lands inherited from the fathers’ or ‘paternal villa’.
worth a visit
- the church of San Giorgio; it is located on the highest point of the township. The first quotations date back from 1003. Inside it houses the wooden statue of Saint George, which was brought here by the Spinola family between the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as the statue of the Madonna.
